1946年　横浜市生まれ　　明治大学卒
写真学校中退後　カメラを持って街にでる。
それらの写真は「カメラ毎日」アルバム年度賞になる。
その後、仕事としてＪ－ＰＯＰのミュージシャンの撮影を手がけるかたわら、好きなアルゼンチンタンゴにのめりこむ。
自ら、吉祥寺にタンゴカフェを開店する。

アルゼンチンタンゴの創世記のイメージをブエノスアイレスに求めて、何度かのブエノス撮影旅行の後、作品「ブエノスアイレス神話」としてニコンサロンで個展が行われる

2003年2月　死去

その後　未発表の作品のＣＤを関係者から委託されて　今回ウェブギャラリーで発表する事にする。今回の2作品はフィルムで撮影したものをパソコン上で加工、変化させて自分のイメージを創ろうとしたと思われる。彼が何をしようとしたか正確に分からないが、彼の指示した構成と順番で見ていただく事にしました。

Goro Iwaoka

Born in Yokohama City in 1946. Graduated from Meiji University. On his way of studying at photography school, he decided to quit school and to start his snapshot activities in town. These works led him to win the Album Year Award sponsored by CAMERA MAINICHI. Then he started his job taking photos of J-POP musicians. He also had a strong inclination toward Argentine Tango, and opend his own Tango Cafe in Kichijyoji.

Seeking for the genesis of Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires, he repeatedly visited there for photography, and held his photo exhibition for “Buenos Aires Myths” at NIKON Salon.

Sadly died in February in 2003. Having the opportunity to be entrusted with his unpublished digital photo works, Ban Photo Gallery is honored to exhibit them for you.

These two works “MACHI” and “The Key to Dream” are taken on film originally. He seemed to create what he really wanted to express by picture processing and retouching on computer.

We would like to present these posthumous photo works, trying to follow his instructed composition and order as much as possible.
